Vinegar is a non toxic antimicrobial which naturally softens clothes, removes soap residue, and helps with static while drying.

It's simple to use, just add 1/2 3/4 cup to rinse cycle. You can also use a downy ball if you have one. Some like to add 30-40 drops of their favorite essential oils to 1 gallon of vinegar to give a nice smell. I don't add it as the heat from the dryer would destroy the smell of the oils.

Now for those of you who are looking for a cheaper alternative to commercial products, here is a recipe that contains conditioner. This recipe is NOT all natural, but at least you know more of the ingredients and it's cheaper to make at home.
